Activities Director – McHenry County – Full Time 

Job Location: Crystal Lake & Harvard Location

Pay Range: $16.00 – $19.00/hour

Work Location: In Person

Position Overview:
The Activities Director will plan and oversee recreational events and programs for residents. Create and lead activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, various types of musical sessions, and sports/games to enrich their social skills to promote active and fun lifestyles.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a monthly activity calendar and ensure it is posted throughout the home and meets state and company regulations.
  • Recruit, organize, train and supervise resident volunteers to lead programs.
  • Plan and maintain a budget of inventory for activities supplies and holiday decor.
  • In charge of maintaining all holiday decor throughout homes.
  • Oversee Bus Driver and transportation schedule.
  • Evaluate the overall effectiveness of the resident’s activity program, and as necessary, modify accordingly.
  • Attend and help host all staff development programs as assigned by the Director / Administrator.
  • Plan and coordinate the home’s newsletter.
  • Coordinate resident council to ensure resident input into the activity program.

Qualifications (Not-Required):

  • Experience: Previous experience in a caregiving or related role preferred but not required.
  • Certification: CBRF certification or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hiring. Standard precautions certification completed before starting on the floor. Medication pass certification not required, but preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and assist residents, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks related to caregiving.
  • Background Check: Must pass a background check as required by facility policies.

Physical Demands:

  • Flow of work demands visual acuity, and must have the ability to handle simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to identify hazards, comprehend consequences and determine action to be taken.
  • Position requires walking or standing 75% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to move quickly, stand, walk, push, pull, bend, stoop, reach, and balance and carry supplies, as needed.
  • Must have the ability to perform gross and fine motor skills.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases including influenza, HIV and hepatitis.
  • May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, and foul odors.
  • During emergencies or natural disasters, may be required to report for duty as assigned by management for the duration of the disaster.
  • May be required to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays, when necessary, as well as in other positions as needed.
  • Works in a senior community environment with regular exposure to chronically ill and frail elderly.
